Introducing Our Homeschool Blog

Welcome to the Excellence of Wisdom - Proverbs 2-8 speaks about God's view on wisdom and all that He desires to teach us.

Wisdom can only be gained by the knowledge and understanding of His Word. Then we are to apply this wisdom in every area our lives and pass it onto our children. Without wisdom we lack understanding and how to apply our knowledge.

My hope in homeschooling our children is to not only train them up in the way they should go - but to teach them to bloom where they are...in the hands of the Master Teacher, whose plans for them is a future filled with hope!

My desire is that this blog will be a place where we can share ideas, tips and things that have worked well for our families. That this will become a place where we encourage, inspire and help each other learn all we can to be the best teachers our children deserve each day. Fully reliant upon His grace!

When I first began homeschooling I felt very lost and often times alone. I felt overwhelmed by all the information available. I felt overwhelmed by all the choices of curriculm. I felt unsure if I had selected the best options for our family and that I could teach each subject with confidence.

I want to help encourage other new families to homeschooling, while embracing the wisdom of seasoned Mom's that have paved the way for all of us. I want to help weed through the mounds of information out there and slowly build up resources that will make all of our journeys less stressful and time consuming. I for one, am all about the quickest and easiest way to get best results! I am not about re-inventing the wheel - thus my desire to have others share what works the best for them and why.

I have no idea what God has planned for this new journey, but I trust it will be fun sharing it with all of you!

My goal for this blog is to share:

  • The lapbooks we make - for tots to teens.

  • The links that help us make them.

  • Our favorite books and curriculm.

  • Other homeschooling blogs.

As I begin creating this blog - please share your favorite sites to help me build up resources for others to find here.

I look forward to sharing all that God has for us, as we quench our thirst for wisdom together!

  1. Hi Jill~
This is wonderful! Just the other day I was thinking about emailing you about homeschooling childred age 12 and older.

I just started working day shift, but have been using an Online Homeschool program when I worked night shift. The name of the program is The Jubilee Academy. It worked out fairly well as they provide CD's and internet referal sights. It requires a lot of independant reading, which isn't that easy for my daughter.

Now that I am on day shift, I'm hoping to work my schedule around homeschooling. I am interested in Junior High and High School programs that are Christain based...something with self learning as well as hands on interactive learning with me.

Would you email me with some of your suggestions, or programs you've liked.

  2. I'm in! We have a unique situation, living on the mission field :) but have truly enjoyed homeschoolin'. I am a certified teacher who crazily writes my own curriculum for our boys. I know that this site will be a valuable tool as I sharpen my arrows and a true source of encouragement. As of now, I am the only home schoolin' missionary mom around! I would love to help in any way, my passion is teaching reading, writing, and the Kingdom of God. I love writing my own stuff and would overjoyed to send it to you to share. RIght now, I am creating a hand's on idea on teaching the Kingdom of God (a treasure chest, full of family ideas to share and dig deeper.)

    Besitos from Costa Rica,
    Sarah Dawn
