Thankful Thursday – El Olam

He (God) has also set eternity in the hearts of men.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

John 17:3 (67 kb)

Reflect on:      Ecclesiastes 3:11 and John 17

Praise God:     Who is the Alpha and the Omega, the one who is, who was and is to come!

Offer Thanks:  For the promise of eternal life.

Confess:           Any tendency to live as though this world is all there is.

Ask God:         To deepen your hope of heaven.

I am beyond grateful that Jesus is our sacrificial lamb.  That His shed blood paid the price for me and all mankind to live for eternity with Him.   That He was willing to lay down His life for us.  That He was willing to finish the work He began in the beginning.  That I can trust in and believe upon every promise He has made to us.  I am thankful to know Him now as my friend, my hope, my joy, my Savior and Lord!

I am thankful to know the truth.   I am thankful to know the way.  I am thankful for life everlasting!

I am thankful that God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, that whoever shall believe in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life!  John 3:16

I am thankful our God is love!   Love that continues to flow no matter what I do.  Love that is available to all.  Love that transforms lives.  Love that breaks hearts and makes them new.  Love that restores marriages.  Love that saves souls.  Love that forgets wrongs and remembers humility.   Love that lasts forever!

Ann finished today’s reading:  If you believe that Jesus is neither a liar nor a fool, you must believe in the existence of an afterlife.  Perhaps the challenge is not only to believe that those who belong to Jesus are destined for heaven but to live in a way that expresses heaven as your deepest long, your true home.

Truly, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by letting go of this world and clinging to the promise of everlasting life!   You have nothing to lose by taking a chance on His payment for your life – Scott asks the children this often – if I give you a gift yet you never claim it – is it really yours?   Can you enjoy the blessing of the gift if you never open it?  Can you enjoy the blessing of the love that was intended when selected for you?   Can you enjoy something you don’t own?

 2 Cor 9_15

Father, God, this morning my prayer is for all those who still have not accepted Your Son and the truth of His life which paid for theirs.  Father, my prayer is for those who claim to know You, yet have yet allowed You to be Lord in their life.  My prayer is for those who refuse to accept the gift of eternal life Your way.  My prayer is for those who still want to try and work their way into the book of life.  My prayer is for those who believe there has to be more than one way to heaven.  My prayer is for those who still work and believe what they do could ever compare to the finished work of Your Son.  Father, speak to them today.  Show them the truth, the way and the life – in a new way and how real Your promises are!  Father, grant them eyes to see and ears willing to listen.  Breakdown the lies which built up walls between You and them.  Help them to see and taste how good You are.  Help them to hear and know it is You calling to them.  Help them to believe that Your love is for them – a gracious gift from God, that no man can work to pay to receive.  A simple yet indescribable gift.  Father, may we all accept the gift You so graciously gave and live each day owning it!  May we never take it for granted and let it be the power that causes us to be more like Your Son!  Shining His light and love to everyone we meet…all for Your glory!  May we accept this gift and allow it to change us from glory to glory.  May we cling to it and never put it down and mistreating it like we so often do earthly treasures. I would rather spend a moment in Your presence than a thousand elsewhere.  Father, teach me to live each moment desiring that closeness with You. Laying down my life and walking in the blessing of life everlasting!  Thank You will never be enough for what You have done in my life.  Until I meet You face to face – my life and heart belong to You!  Thank You for taking such good care of me until that day!   I pray this in Jesus, name!  Amen!
