China Stories…

The last two weeks we have been learning all about China – from stories about the first Emperor Qin Zheng and how he began building the Great Wall of China, to why he felt it was needed.  We are enjoying learning about the many things their culture still holds dear to them today.

Then we spent some time learning how to write words in Chinese.  I messed up forest but you get the idea.

The kids did great too – we all agreed it must have been so frustrating to spend hours and months writing one book only to have Qin Zheng write a law to have all books be torn up.

I have said this before but if I ever went back to school, I would go back to learn all about ancient history.  It is really fascinating.  I am hoping that my new found love for it is being passed onto our children – because seriously friends I get into reading each story!

Today we did lots of laughing together.  It was a fun homeschool day, which refueled me to keep going – and make it to the end of this school year!  Thank You God for giving me just what I needed today – encouragement as I press on to finish the race reaching for the goal of Christ Jesus.

What are you doing now to help you finish the school year with joy?  Next week we are off to the zoo!!!  I can’t wait!

  2. I was in a bible study were we looked at the connections of the old testament and other cultures ancient history. For example, there are many cultures with a great flood story. During that bible study we also talked about Chinese characters and their unique design that could show a connection to the old testament. Have you seen anything about it? Here is one article about it...http://www.cogwriter.com/china.htm
