It’s almost time!!

The excitement around here to have our school room finished is palatable. We are all ready to be out of the kitchen and have a place to call school.  I am ready to not see eraser shreds all over my kitchen floor too :-)  I am ready to say good-bye to the mounds of school books that never leave my kitchen.  I am ready for ORGANIZATION!  Yes, I said it and I am!

Next week the school room will be finished and I will share photos once I have most of the stuff put in there.  I am looking for desks now and if anyone knows where I can get regular school desks cheap please let me know.

I went to *Lowes* yesterday and bought the prettiest baskets to put things in and then I am getting a bin basket rack for puzzles, toys that the toddlers put together and take apart.  I can’t wait.  I know for sure at the moment I’m way more excited than they are.

Jordan is LOVING Teaching Textbooks 3 and Lilly is quickly getting the hang of 4.  They will both be done this summer and move onto the next level in the fall.  Then I will use them for another child over and over again.  LOVE THAT!

We are working through Rod n Staff 2 this summer and will most likely finish it in the Fall.

We are just about finished reading The Story of the World Part I.   We are all going to miss learning about Ancient History.  It has been so much fun!

Yesterday we did a complete review of all the Bible verses we learned this year and the children had so much fun reciting!  Lilly was amazed at how many they knew and quickly asked, “Mom how do they know so many?  Can I learn them too?”  Music to this Mom’s ears!

I am taking time this summer to really focus on character building.  Something I see we slipped away from too much and our children are in need of a serious refresher course – BE NICE to one another always!  Be loving, kind, patient, etc ask God to fill you with the Fruit of the SPIRIT!  How quickly we all slip away from that and it is time to diligently seek Him together as a family.

If anyone has a great printer/copier that you would recommend please let me know.  I am putting one in the school room.

Blessings and love to you all!  I’m so excited to share this journey with so many of you…maybe next Spring we can all get together here and have an end of the year party – what do you think?

  1. God always seems to give us a "summer theme" last year was being the peacemaker. This year seems to be "encouraging other's" - especially with our words. Our theme verse is 1 Thes 5:14.

Have a great summer, enjoy that school room, can't wait to see pictures!!

  2. Oh I am sure you will love having a school room~!
We love teaching textbooks around here too.
Yes character building, a constant needed, and perhaps the most important subject.

  3. I look forward to seeing photos of your finished school room. This is something I hope to have by the end of the year or at least the start of our school year next year. Character building is something we have to focus on too... smile
