Teen Talk Tuesday – Walk Worthy

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4:1-3

Let’s just say that this post has taken many different directions over the last week.   I’m beyond thankful and grateful God has given me a husband with so much wisdom, grace and godly advice.

I spent an hour speaking to him last night about all that I desire to share with you. (teens, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, church leaders, friends – OK everyone!)

Boy am I glad he took the time to really help me understand my own heart and give me the right words to share with each of you.

I’m a bit overwhelmed at the moment and pray my thoughts come out clearly because this post could very well be the most important one I write and you read.

Our topic this month is purity.   Next month it is modesty.

As I have said before they are both important.   However, their importance comes last after your relationship with Christ and if your heart is truly focused on Him.

Nothing is more important that your relationship with Christ.  When you relationship is right with God, everything else will fall into line too.

Nothing is more important than your clear understanding of who Christ is and what He has done for you.

Nothing is more important that your clear understanding of His love for you.

If you choose tomorrow to remain pure only because it is the ‘right’ thing to do or you want to please your parents or worse God.

You are doing it for the wrong reasons and in vain.

[Guilt is a great motivator but the worst taskmaster.  Guilt breeds condemnation.  Which is NOT of God.  God will NEVER force you to live for Him.  God will NEVER force you to choose His way.  It is a choice you and I must make.  The choice becomes very easy the more we get to know God and His indescribable love for us.   The only way to get to know God (or anyone for that matter) is to spend time with them.  The only way to fall in love with God is to spend time with Him.  The only way to believe in God and taste, see and know His goodness is to know Him, by spending time with Him.  The only way to know Him is to spend time in His word and allow the Spirit to give life to your heart, renew your mind and wash you clean with The Truth.  The constant renewing of your mind will help you remain pure and cause you to desire to live a modest life.]

God will never be pleased with you.   If He could then surely He could be displeased with you.

There is NOTHING you or I can do to change God’s love for us.

God is love!  1John 4:8 and verse 16 tell us this.

We love God because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

I found this awesome explanation of the difference between human love and God’s love here.  Please read it!

You see I doubt anything I’m going to tell you or for that matter, all of us(contributors for TTT) will tell you about purity or modesty is new to you.

That doesn’t mean that what we are sharing is not valuable or worthy of you taking heed to the truth being shared.

It means that what comes before any of the valuable lessons being shared each week is your heart truly and fully given to Christ.

It means that you own these words, “you are a new creation in Christ.”

It means you allow His love to change you from the inside out.

Not that you try to change from the outside in.   Take off the masks, quit playing church, stop trying to be someone or something and simply come to Jesus as you are, let Him fill you with His grace and by faith walk worthy of the calling.

That my dear brothers and sisters is works.  Not worship.  Nor is that honoring God.

Does He care about our thoughts?  Yes!

Does He care about the words we speak?  Yes!

Does He care if we act like the world and love it before Him?  Yes!

Why because the only thing that matters to Him is our heart.

Out of the mouth the heart speaks and the body acts.

If we are filling our mind with the world and all its pleasures – our hearts are full of the things that God abhors.  The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

So what then?

Fill your mind with His word.   Fill your heart with His truth – that He loves you because He loves you, because He loves you.

There is NOTHING you will ever do that can change that fact.

He knows the number of hairs on your head.

He knows you by name.  He knows every thought before you think it.  He knows every word before you speak it. There is no place you can run that He will not come to find you.  There is nothing hidden from the Lord.

He knitted you together wonderfully, perfectly and fearfully in your mother’s womb.

Nothing He has done was by accident.

You are made in His image.

You were created for one reason only – so He could shower you with His love and that you would allow His love to flow in you and through you for the rest of your days.

Because of His love our hearts will be molded (shaped) more into His image every day.

Our choices will reflect His love for us and our love for Him.

You will choose to worship Him.

Our choices will not be made from guilt.

Our choices will be made from love.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when He appears,we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1 John 1-3

If you don’t know this kind of love personally.   Please reach out and allow us, your parents, someone at church to help you know the truth and have it set you free.

We are not in bondage to sin any longer.  Christ died for us, to set us free from the chains of this world.

He died and paid the penalty for all of our sins.

You don’t have to, nor can you do anything to deserve the price He had to pay to set you free.  You simply need to accept His gift and allow the precious blood of Jesus to wash you clean – unto holiness, purity and a sanctified life for Him.

Once you truly know and understand His love for you (as best as we humans can) – then you will desire to live out Romans 12:1-2.

Chapters 1-3 of Ephesians tells us who we are in Christ and all that He has done for us.  Same with Romans 1-8.

Then Paul says, ‘therefore’ because all that He has done, “walk worthy of the calling” (Ephesians 4) and “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Here is one more piece of valuable wisdom shared with me…

Your best friend is the one who tells you the MOST TRUTH – in love!

Why?  Because to truly love someone is to constantly be pointing them back to Jesus, whose love for us knows no bounds, never changes, fades or ends.  His love endures forever.

Let me repeat that, “The people who love you the most will tell you the MOST Truth!”

Which brings me to another important point…

Because we become who we hang out with and God warns us to pick our friends carefully – I want to share another great article that will help you understand why godly friends are so important.

Our God is heart changing, mind healing and soul soothing.

I wrote a post called Mighty Fortress last week that if you have not read it, I pray you take the time to do that and ponder the love God has for you.  And then allow His love to be the reason for every decision you make as an act of worship, not an act of works.

Praying for you today!   Share His truth and allow it to set others free with you!
