Why Hello 2011

“This is what the LORD says— He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:16, 18-19)

AMEN!!! …How true is this  . . .

I woke to watch the day begin – to see His glory rise – to grab hold of this new day and Him – to walk into the New Year with my eyes wide open to all that He desires me to see – experience – and enjoy!     Come say Hello 2011 with me.

This morning I read a beautiful post by my dear friend Sharon, here is an excerpt that really touched my heart and speaks about my hope to yield my heart even more to God’s will for my life.

Transformation.  A surrendered heart pursuing holiness.  A willingness to yield to the bittersweet process of purification through the washing of the water of the Word. "...offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness."  Romans 6:19

Resolutions tend to be self-centered.  Resolutions are about me, my strength and my commitment.  Transformation is Christ-centered.  Transformation comes from the renewing of our minds by the washing of the water of God's Word.  We surrender and yield to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and allow His transformation to take place in our lives through the Truth of God's Word.  And WOW...He transforms us into His image!  "You have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."  Col. 3:10

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."  2 Cor. 3:18

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."  Psalm 51:10

I have never been a New Years resolution type person.  I always felt funny making a resolution knowing full well I would never keep them.   Today, I know without God it is impossible to live a life of righteousness or holiness.  So I resolve to live like the new creation I am because of His love, and because I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (Phil 4:13)!

Last year all I wanted was to trust and obey God no matter the cost.  I have not changed in my desire to do that.   What has changed is my knowing my desperate need for Him daily and the incredible blessing of His faithfulness.

Last year was one of the greatest growth spurts of my life – emotionally and spiritually.

Healing washed over me in ways I only dared to dream were possible.

Our family welcomed another child home forever and the transition caused us to focus on God’s love for each of us.  It continues to teach us how important it is to forgive, share grace and mercy with those you love.  My sweet husband reminded us all recently,  “Forgiveness is the gift you give yourself.”  AMEN!

We thought in the beginning of 2010 our path was set in one direction.   Yet, God was waiting for us to clearly see that was not the path He had for our future – but only for a season.  A season where our marriage would be stretched, strengthened and restored even more.

The Lord set a new path before us.  One that we continue to be prepared for and have great expectation as it unfolds in 2011.    As we wait on Him to show us the way and reveal more to us – our faith continues to grow even stronger in Him.   So much beauty has come through the unseen.   His grace has proven sufficient every step of the way.  His love has held us up and given us great hope in all that is to come.

Our children have grown in the most amazing ways in 2010 – many answered prayers.   Each of them are beginning to own their faith little by little every day – their prayers are richer and filled with belief in Him who they are crying out to.

As a family our hope and goal this year is to allow Him and His Word to transform us more and more into a clear reflection of our Lord.   We know that comes with a price and we are willing to pay it.

"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."  Joshua 24:15

That means we will all be sanctified even more and will release more of our will to His.   None of us have any idea what that will look like – yet we know that true surrendering of our hearts and lives to Him is worth it every time.  So together we will continue to focus on Him and trust in Him to help us walk worthy of the calling on our lives – to enjoy Him and glorify Him in all that we do.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!..... Looking forward to 2011 and all that God has for each of us – look up – not back – look up – not inside – look to Him – not yourself – trust in Him with all your heart, mind and soul . . .and watch what God’s power, hope, peace, joy and love will do in your life this year!
