Wisdom of a Child

1 Timothy 4:12 says, Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Jordan is now 8 years old, and recently she began to take her time reading the bible very seriously.  She wanted to really allow God to speak to her.  She began to take notes during her bible time of all the things God spoke to her.  Well this morning she read me her notes and I think it would be wise for all of us to listen to what He said to her.

She was reading Isaiah 1 and these are her exact words from God.

“If you do not believe in Jesus, the whole head will hurt.  That means your soul is not right with Him and the whole heart is sick.  That means your heart does NOT have Him inside.  But if you believe in Him your soul is right with Him and your heart has Him inside.  The ox and the donkey know their owner.  What does this mean?  It means the ox knows man is its owner.  The donkey knows man is its owner too.  That means we have to know who is our owner – God is!   So we have to follow God like the ox and the donkey follow their owner.

We have a choice to follow good or evil.   God says, “Come this way.”  And the devil says, “I will lead you down the path that rocks.”  God says, “I am going to lead you down the path of righteousness.”  God is calling you and so is Satan.

You have a choice.   If Satan is bothering you too much, just say, “Satan I am God’s child NOT yours!”   You can go sing a worship song or pray.  Satan will leave you alone.   I hope you do good and the right thing.  If you choose Satan your life will be ruled by evil.  But if you choose God you will go to heaven and life for eternity with Him.”

Wisdom of a child whose heart is so beautifully in tune with Him.   She has much to teach me and really all of us.   It is that simple – daily we have to make a choice – to choose good or evil…from the words we say, to the things we do, to the books we read, the TV shows we watch, the music we listen to, how we treat our family and friends, strangers and anyone we meet, the little ways we compromise and believe we are not sinning against God or those we love.   Everything has eternal effects – for His glory and whether all that we do burns like straw before Him or passes through the fire as a brilliant jewel.

I was speaking with a friend this morning after seeing her photo of a stop sign.   What she thought might be a boring or simple photo to me said everything about my walk with God.    My thoughts immediately went to the following…(remember this sign?)

stop complaining

STOP controlling your life and LET ME DO IT!

STOP telling Me what you want and ASK ME WHAT I WANT for you!

STOP telling Me or others how much you believe Me, IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO ME and DO WHAT I AM ASKING!

STOP making excuses for why you put Me last and then keep questioning why I seem so distant? It is NOT I that moved away – but you.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."  Matthew 11:28-30

I think this cartoon says it best…

Stop running from God.  He can handle all of your problems.  There is NOTHING impossible for God or with God on your side.  There is NOTHING you have done too big for Him to forgive. There is NOTHING His love can’t heal.

Stop and know that He is God.  The Maker and Creator of your life!  The Author and Finisher of your faith.   Let’s take a few minutes and be reminded Who it is that we love and are all seeking to know….{get to know WHO LOVES YOU!!!!}

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”  Matthew 18:2-6

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

More is caught then taught…Jordan’s words of wisdom were a huge reminder of this today!  Praying that I will humble myself more and more before Him so that they see less of me and more of Him!!!   The responsibility of raising 9 children to grow in the grace and knowledge of God can sometimes overwhelm me and that is when I need Him most!

Jordan is studying this week to teach our family bible study this weekend!  I can’t wait to learn what God has for me once again as she speaks from her heart full of His love!
