TTT–Let Us ♥ One Another

How we find strength to love one another?

God loves you, and He has plastered that message all over scripture.

Romans 5:8 says “but God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

We were directly opposed to God in our sin and yet He planned for His son to be the sacrifice that would be a substitute for our own sins and be the only way to everlasting life, if we are willing to bow our knee and accept that free gift. Imagine making a plan for your child to sacrifice His life in order that one of your enemies might have an opportunity to spend eternity with Jesus, yeah God loves US that much.

With this thought I direct our attention to 1 John 4:11beloved, if God so love us, we also ought to love one another.

John 13=34

That’s right; the same God who sent His son to be a sacrifice for our sins calls us to love each other with that same kind of love. In fact Jesus says in John 13:35 that people will know we are His disciples by the way we love each other. Many will take the verse in 1 John and say to themselves “ok, how am I going to love more like God?” The only problem with this question is the emphasis on “I.” As Christians we think the burden is on us to figure things out. We forget that we have been given a helper.

The Holy Spirit living through us is the only way we can ever hope to love one another in the same way that God has loved us.

Galatians 5:22-23 says “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

Love is a fruit of the Spirit, not of our own works. If we are to love one another with a love that can only come from God it HAS to be through the Spirit.

How do we get the fruit of the Spirit? Ask.

God tells us that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and if we know that He hears us, anything we ask we know that we have what we ask of Him.

The only way to love our brothers and sisters in Christ is allowing the Holy Spirit to live and work through us.

As followers of Christ, and I hope you are one, we must allow the Spirit to work in us and love through us. Remember the words of 1 John 4:19We love Him because He first loved us.”

Let us be…

Thank you Mike for starting off our month with God’s love for us, our love for God and how that becomes our love for one another!   Looking forward to all that will be shared throughout the month as we focus on  GOD IS LOVE!

PS Today I’m hosting another give-away on my photography blog.  Come spread the love!
