My Journey Continues…

Have you ever walked a mile and felt like you walked only a moment?   Have you ever driven home and can’t even remember the drive?  Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you entered it?

That is how I have felt many times since I began this journey only six weeks ago.

I have felt lost and yet, so familiar with where I am.

I have felt alone and yet, so filled with comfort and peace.

I have felt unsure and yet, more sure of my choices in regards to health than I have in a very long time.

A verse was given to me this morning and it completely reflects where I am on my journey…

But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

Psalm 73:28

I have been drawing closer to God through this health journey and asking Him to help heal me in a new way each day.   I pray for wisdom with my food choices and how to do what is best for my body each day.   Sometimes that is resting.  Sometimes that means eating a little more throughout the day.  Sometimes it means not eating a food I used to enjoy (because my body no longer likes it).  Sometimes that means trying new things.   Sometimes it means learning how to cook a food I used to but forgot the best way.

I have new favorite recipes.  I have a new weekly lunch menu for our children.   I crave foods I never imagined I would ever eat again.

What are they you might be asking?

Well, my top favorite things to eat now are scrambled eggs with GF toast, my homemade chicken salad, salmon salad, egg salad and the best BBQ chicken I have ever tasted.  Daily for my mid-day snack I eat sliced red/green peppers, cucumbers with hummus.  I eat an 8 oz container every day.   YUM!  YUM!  So far chickpeas are the only beans my body can tolerate as I continue on my journey towards healing!

If you would like me to share my recipes – I’ll post them soon.
