Week 43 good to WOW {SOOC}

Welcome back everyone! Thanks again for joining us. To those of you who are new to our weekly challenge please go here to learn all the details about how this works first. The next five weeks of themes/prompts are at the bottom of my blog. Also, everyone please do us a favor and read this post before entering any photo challenge…thanks!

OK, all of you tutorial craving photographers, my friend Darcy is hosting 31 Days of Photo Tips throughout the month of October!  So, hop over and get learning!   Another beautiful photography site joining in the 31 Days of Tips is Katie Lloyd Photography.   Her tips this month have been not only beautiful, but will help you all make better SOOC shots!

Sorry, my checklist is now only available to mentor and workshop attendees.  I will be announcing details for both in 2012.  Jill-Samter-Session-Checkli
This weeks theme is costumes!

Now I know you are all going to be knocking me off my feet with what you captured this weekend.   I look forward to seeing your photos in our flickr group.  This is our last week for the October best SOOC give-away.   So don’t forget to enter them into the good to WOW SOOC group

Our family does NOT celebrate Halloween so Lexi and I decided to have some fun playing dress up!   I went with a *Disney movie character and she was the most gorgeous nerds I have ever seen.   Just sayin’
Now as some of you know I’m building a studio in an empty room we have – so we went in there but the lighting is AWFUL at the moment.  SOOO I needed to pull out the speedlite for a little extra help!   I set my Kelvin for the lighting and worked the flash a bit until I found what would give me as natural a look as possible using a speedlite.   The WB was still a tad off and with a quick fix in LR they turned out awesome.   I’m excited to share the edits on Thursday!    These were shot on Saturday during the snow storm on the East Coast so there was NO natural light coming into the room.

Who can guess which character I am?
I took a whole series of shots on Friday night of Lexi – this time it was dark outside and I had to rely solely on my speedlite.  I can’t wait to get my softboxes, etc. for the studio.  You are going to LOVE the edits from her mini photo session.

This month’s give-away is coming from one of our weekly participants and I’m so excited to share her talent with you.

Gina from Chic Homeschool Momma creates beautiful camera straps.   One lucky winner will be adding one of her creations to their camera for the best SOOC for October.    If you are interested in purchasing one of her camera straps, Gina has generously offered each of you a coupon code to get a discount throughout the month of October (simply add this code BESTSOOCOCT11 upon checkout!)   Thank you Gina!!!

Please everyone post your photos for the monthly contest into our flickr group good to WOW
SOOC.   I’m sorry but if you don’t post them there, they will not be in the running for the best SOOC of October.

I want to thank those of you who have begun to add your photos to our good to WOW flickr group each week.   It has really helped me in viewing your SOOC shots (which means I can judge more entries for each months give-away!) and allows me to stay connected to our group.   Please consider joining the group and linking us to your photo in the flickr group!   Thank you!

To view it and join – go here good to WOW flickr group – you can upload one photo a week into the group pool. Please name it “week # and photo prompt” to help the group follow along. Thank you!

Are you just joining us?  If so, then now is the time to start practicing shooting in M (Manual) or AV (Aperture Priority) mode and getting each shot as close to “perfect” as you can in camera.  SO, PLEASE keep learning all you can to capture the best shots in camera.   I hope you are inspired by what I share here and from all those who enter our weekly challenge to learn more every month!   I love seeing so much growth in many of your shots.    This challenge has blessed me in many ways!   Thanks for joining in and sharing this journey with us!
