Be Still SONday

A voice says, "Call out." Then he answered, "What shall I call out?" All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass.  The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”  Isaiah 40:6-8

I have to get so low to the ground to see the glorious raindrops or dew left on the grass in the morning.    To think the drop above is almost as tiny as a pencil dot is hard to believe from the photo.   That is the beauty of a macro lens.   It magnifies the tiniest object and allows us to see them.

Yet, when I think about how tiny we all are in the grand scheme of life –  unlike this drop of water that is next to impossible to see without a special lens, and so easily to walk past or never see – God, is watching over each of us all of the time.   We are tiny to the world – but deeply important to God.   He sees every single one of us.

However, in our importance to God, our lives are but a moment in time.   The saying time is short, so live life to its fullest – is wise yet foolish.  Wise because life is fleeting, and tomorrow is not promised.  Foolish because, if you are living this life to gain the promises of this world – the only reward you will receive are those you attained here on earth.   Yet, if you live this life to the fullest seeking after God, with one desire to bring glory to His name, your life will have eternal value for generations to come.  Holding onto what this life can give you, is like trying to see the water droplets without the right lens.   Trust me seeing these drops without my lens is almost impossible.  I have to be so close to them and I still miss seeing all that is really there.

Psalm 102:11 says, “My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.”

How often do we cling so tightly to this world and what we can get out of it?  How often do we put more value on what we have, can get and desire, over our true purpose?   Which is knowing God, being loved by Him, seeking the truth and wisdom; then applying it to our lives, while growing in the grace and knowledge of our Savior.

"I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies and of the son of man who is made like grass, that you have forgotten the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, As he makes ready to destroy? But where is the fury of the oppressor?”  Isaiah 51:12-13

Oh sweet friends I long for all of us to let go of this world.   Let go of the lies we have believed or still believing.  There is NOTHING this world could ever give any of us that the Maker of heaven and earth hasn’t already blessed us with – we could try for the rest of our lives to repay Him and our efforts would never be enough.   We all owe it to God to live our lives for His glory and His glory alone.   We all owe it to God for paying a debt not one of us can ever repay, to have our hearts turned completely toward Him with all that we are.   We all owe it to ourselves to let go and let God.   Without living in complete humility the promises of God will not be ours.  We must taste and see His goodness to understand the depth of His love for us!   One can’t merely nibble on the bread of life and exist – we must devour it over and over again.   We must fully let ourselves enjoy every morsel God gives to us.   He gives and He gives and He gives.  Even during the times He is taking away.  He still gives.  In every season – there are blessings poured out into our lives.    How can I say that?   Because God is for us.   Because God loves in action.   God’s love endures all things and covers a multitude of sins.   Because our God is mighty to save and He never stops desiring to comfort us and to be our all in all.

Everything in this life will fade away.   We will become dust just as we all started.   So what is holding you back from humbling yourself before the One True and Living God?   What could possibly be worth more than the gift of eternal life spent with your Maker?   Whatever that is holding you back, meditate on the verses today and trust God to speak to your heart!

Our GOD is jealous for you!   He wants all of your heart, mind and soul!   He desires to love you and be loved by you!   He wants all of your life placed in His faithful hands!

Isaiah 33:6 says, “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.”

Isaiah 6:7 says, “With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

Isaiah 12:1 says,  “In that day you will say: "I will praise you, O LORD. Although You were angry with me, your anger has turned away and You have comforted me.”

Deuteronomy 8:11 says, “Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe His commands, His laws and His decrees that I am giving you this day.”

Isaiah 40:21-23 says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?  It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.  He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.”

Deuteronomy 32:4 says, "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.”

Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah.”
