It was bound to happen sooner or later.
Personally, I was hoping for a little later. Considering she has only been riding for three and half months!!!!!
But this girl of ours is full steam ahead with everything riding. She wants to learn and learn and learn. She is pushing past many of her personal fears and becoming a much more confident young lady! Horseback riding has been a HUGE gift to her. She now feels like her “gift” has been revealed to her and it just about makes her burst being able to do it every week!
Now let me tell you how our little lady caught the jumping bug.
She asked Miss Brooke, “Can I ride English on Dolly today and maybe jump?”
Miss Brooke didn’t even think twice and replied, “Yes, I think you are ready.”
Before you get nervous that she was jumping like the older girls and teens at the barn last week, remember it was her first experience going over anything on a horse.
They began by having Dolly walk over a wood beam in the ring. They both did great!
Just look at Brooke’s proud expression and smile. She is the most amazing encourager and supportive trainer – EVER!
Then it was time to begin a nice solid canter. These two worked beautifully together last Thursday and were in perfect rhythm for jumping.
They were seriously cruising right on by me and our daughter remained in complete control the entire time. She kept her reigns low and soft. She posted beautifully and in time with Dolly’s gait. She was truly feeling ready to jump.
Who else is swooning over this gorgeous afternoon light? These photos are all SOOC.
Just look at her smile as she keeps Dolly going and prepares herself mentally for their first jump together.
Are your ready for this???
After all that cheering, watching, snapping, and snapping some more…..
I missed her first official jump!!!!
I was admiring another horse and talking to its owner. When all of the sudden I hear…
“MOM DID YOU SEE THAT???? Did you catch it???”
Um, no…biggest failing moment at the horse farm yet!
But no big deal (RIGHT????) because she was ready to do it again, and again, and again!
Good thing I caught all three of those or I would have been in BIG trouble.
No way was I missing that again!!!! Nor will I ever again if my camera is with me!
I was so excited to see these photos hours later because she is in wonderful form going over the jump. Especially considering it was her very first time and only 20 minutes earlier learned the proper way to sit (2 point) while going over a jump.
I have no idea where her riding will take her or if she will ever compete, but for now we are so thrilled for her to find such joy in learning so many new skills that have already helped her in all areas of her life!
Wishing you all a blessed and beautiful weekend!
Mine will be so much fun – our oldest is HOME from college, the children have their Christmas concert tonight, and we get to enjoy Pancake Saturday as a family all under one roof!!!!
