I’m not exactly sure what made me think this drastic diet change would be any different than all the others I have done over the years.
I’m not exactly sure why I thought I would get through it without some sort of detox and struggle.
I know better.
Which means I want to prepare each of you for what your body might experience during this 30 day commitment to eating grain/carb free and eliminating sugar from your diet.
Please remember EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT so EVERY BODY will REACT DIFFERNTLY to this diet change.
I also want to share we will NEVER go back to how we ate before this. We will eat very little grain and when we do, it will be the smallest portion on our plate not the staple. Here is an excellent post as to why!
Yesterday, was not easy for me. I knew it wouldn’t be with the way I ate leading up to this 30 day grain free diet. Actually the last 72 hours have been really hard. This might be TMI for some of you and for that I’m sorry – it is too important not to share.
On Friday, I began not feeling well (day 7) and then got the chills and a high fever by 4pm. Then I had a crazy cough. As well as, becoming really constipated. Which is NOT normal for me at all. The kids are all eating plenty of fiber (apples and pears) and they are doing well in this area. Only a few struggled until I increased their intake of cucumbers, celery, and the fruits we can enjoy this month. I unfortunately can’t eat raw apples or pears. They make my throat itch something fierce and once you cook them you lose all of the value of the skin which helps keep the stools soft. I was drinking plenty of water and the lemon detox tea each night. But it still wasn’t enough. Even the Epson Salt baths were not helping.
One of my supplements did not come in and I think that is why I struggled. It is meant to help flush out the digestive tract. I knew it was exactly what my body needed and once I began to clear out my digestive tract I would begin to feel much better. Saturday night, I went through my supplement cabinet and found a product that I have used during other cleanses to help things along. By Sunday morning, things were moving and I mean MOVING! Which meant by Sunday afternoon I was beginning to feel better. The toxins, yeast, and parasites were being flushed out of my body. I am also rubbing oregano oil on my feet three times a day. It is a wonderful oil to kill parasites, bacteria, viruses, etc.
It is very important that you are having bowel movements every single day no matter what cleanse or diet change you make. Your body must be releasing all that has built up over the years inside of you, not to mention the foods we eat each day.
Yes, I felt horrible. Which will scare some of you away from making healthy changes to your diet. Which is sad.
I refuse to give up or give in – because I know that my health is worth more than a moment of gratification when I eat something I desire or crave. Which only lasted the first four days. By day five I no longer was craving sweets or carbs!
Many people struggle to get past the first three days of any diet change or cleanse because they are so hard.
They are hard because your body is working to release all the bad stuff inside of you. (You didn’t wake-up one day feeling tired, struggle to think quickly, gain extra weight, and begin getting sick more often. It took time and many bad choices along the way. Often times at no fault of your own. You just didn’t have the proper information or tools to make the best choices.) They are hard because you start to not feel good. They are hard because your energy level drops a bit. They are hard because you must use the bathroom more. They are hard because your body begins to release toxins from your skin and digestive tract.
Let’s all just agree - they are hard!
Thus, the reason people are not doing them on a regular basis. Nor will most people do one in their entire life!

I mentioned this before, but it is worth saying again – I’m shocked by how much grain and junk we actually were consuming on a daily basis – and we live gluten and dairy free. Which is exactly why me and a few of our children are going through a detox phase now. My body is uber sensitive to any change or new things added into my daily regimen…so completely going grain free and no sugar at all told my body it is time to GET TO WORK! Which is a good thing!
The above picture is an illustration of what happens to actually protect us from all the toxins (grains, carbs, and sweets)we eat. Our bodies gain weight to protect us from the over acidic environment we are creating with every bite and drink we take. Thus, it is important to cleanse out all of the impurities and allowing our bodies to regain health.
Cleansing is designed to help the body eliminate stored toxins and strengthen the organs involved in the process of waste elimination. There are different regimes aimed at different parts of your body, namely your colon, liver, kidneys, lungs and skin, for complete cleansing to take place.

The one thing I ask you is this – please don’t give up on yourself!
You are worth this goal! You are worth the hard work it will take every single day and sometimes every single moment to push through to finish the 30 day commitment to eat grain/carb free.
