Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Eph. 4:29
Which lead to my morning thoughts and writing this on the board where we all enter into our home…
I need this reminder just as much as our children do. Children tend to use words for power and control – especially against their siblings. Don’t we all.
"This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” (Deut. 30:19)
Knowing words have such power – we should taste them before we allow them to leave our lips. If not sweet, then swallow them quickly to spare the soul who might end up tasting them long after you have forgotten them.
“He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.” Prov. 13:3
