Quiet and Busy…

I am so sorry for neglecting this blog.  We are well into our homeschool year and much is happening in our lives.  In the last month my father in love was once again diagnosed with cancer.  This time it is incurable {lungs} and we are working to find the best alternative treatments for him.
I also started a photography business and LOVE it!  I shot my first newborn session last week and have several family photo sessions the next few weeks.  If you live in the area and know anyone who is about to deliver please pass along my information. I would love to capture this special time in their lives!
I am working hard to keep focused and get done what I plan each week to teach the children.  They are doing great even with all that is going on.
Our focus this year has shifted – we are really stressing math and grammar skills.  We are also working diligently on map skills and learning all about U.S. Geography.
Yesterday was so gorgeous I took the children for a leaf exploring adventure.  I captured great shots of our time together and they will be up on our family blog later today.
I promised the children for two weeks that we would do a leaf art project – well yesterday we finally got to it.  They loved it and had fun making them extra special for daddy who was away with his parents seeing a cancer specialist in TX.
This is a fun and easy art project!

We are beginning our Thanksgiving tradition and spending time talking and thinking about all the things we are grateful for in our lives.  The top of the list with each of the children is God selecting us to all be family.   Precious and I am so richly blessed and loved!
Last year we made a leaf chain with each child writing all the things they were thankful for.  You can see our crafts from last year HERE!
I pray you are all doing well and remembering to cling to His grace each day, soaking in His word and love for you and then pouring it out onto your family throughout the day!

The math we use is Teaching Textbooks.  The younger children do the Kumon workbooks.   We use Rod-n-Staff level 2.  Our children also do Easy Grammar Daily Grams.  They love it and are thriving in both subjects.

  1. You are giving me ideas for the little children I'm working with at the school. I have the four year olds for two and a half hours in an after school program and must keep them occupied. After a full day of school, many are tired. I'm trying to think of crafts to do with them. I may try the leaves but also love the idea of thinking of all they are thankful for and linking them in a chain. It's not a Christian school but I'm sure thankfulness would be fine. :)

  2. I Love this blog! You are just so full of wonderful encouragement, and great ideas! All of your blogs are so refreshing and uplifting to read- not to mention so beautifully designed!

I am Praying for you as you train your children His way!

May God Bless you in all things!

  3. great ideas (as usual!) and precious pictures! Congratulations on your photography business. You are a gifted photographer!
