Pre-K x 2 = Quiet Time

This has been a week of many firsts for our family.  All 8 of our children are now attending school outside of our home.   I have been busier this week than I can remember in a long time.  I spent much of my day in the car – dropping off and picking up the children from two different schools.   Six attend one and two attend the other.    All of them are loving school and so blessed by their teachers!   God made no mistake in whom He was chose for their first teacher Smile  We can’t thank Him enough for all the blessings that have come from this new experience for our family already!!!

For me it means a few hours of complete quiet around the house.   I keep getting asked, “what I will do now with them all in school?”   I can tell you one thing I won’t be – bored!    Not a chance!    I have a year worth of photos to go through and turn into photobooks for our family.  I have hours of reading I want to accomplish.   I have enough laundry each week to keep me busy for hours each day.   I go grocery shopping more often and spend more time cooking than I have in years.   Which by the way I’m happy to announce, I didn’t lose my groove!!!!   Big smiles all around on that one!   The teachers are even noticing the fancy (healthy) lunches that appear each day in their classrooms.   So don’t worry friends I have plenty to do and am really excited about this new chapter in my life and theirs.

I am also praying about what I really want to do with my photography now that we are in a new area and what market I see myself reaching out to.   I have spent hours re-reading material on branding your business and how important it is to be true to yourself along the way.   All I know at the moment is that I love capturing the extraordinary moments in life, and pray that I am able to do that for others too.

A few weeks ago, I found out that the organic farm and restaurant near us is looking forward to displaying my photography in their dining room, which means I need to start working on the prints and canvases to make that happen.   So again, I will be anything but bored.

Oh and I’ll be spending time teaching chapel for the middle school where our children attend.   I’ll share more about that later.

Now onto our Pre-K x 2

Someone is VERY excited about going to school.   Can you tell?

In less than a week, a majority of the elementary teachers already know her name and have shared stories about her with me.  What a riot this little beam of sunshine is!

When she was done jumping around, this little one wanted to come make me smile by asking me to take his photos too.  Well, with this t-shirt on, how could I possibly resist!!!?

If you have been following along here for any length of time then you know that these two have a special and very unique relationship.  They are only 10 months apart and keep me on my toes (well all of us I should say!).   They also keep me laughing and feeling very loved!!!   Every photo session with them together begins and ends the same…

Please stand next to each other.                                                            Please give each other a hug.

Please let him give you a kiss.                                                                Please make a nice face while he does it.

Mom, we did it!                                                                                                Are we done?

Yes, you both are done.   Thank you for the sweet smiles and lovin’ on each other.

Wait Mom, just one more!

Her arm goes up and around – then she gets in the last kiss, walks away and leaves him standing there wondering what just happened.  Only this time there was a much sweeter ending…

She may try to get the last word in – but I always get the last lovin’!   And at the moment I’m enjoying the quiet times while they last!   Wishing you all a very blessed weekend!!!   Be safe if you are on the east coast.  Hard to believe I am living through an earthquake and hurricane all in one week!   Prayers being said for all who live near the path of Irene.
