30 Day Challenge {Introduction to a Nutritional Cleanse}


Today, I pray you will stop what you are doing and truly listen without judgment of what you think I’m suggesting or what you think you already know.   Because the only path to growth, is change and being willing to do what it takes to see that change to the end.

I have been blogging, coaching, speaking, and teaching on optimal health for 10 years.  My book Breaking Free – Truths for Healthy Living has been read by thousands of people around the globe. I have given numerous talks on how to heal the body naturally (through proper diet, etc.) and have personally coached hundreds of people back to health.   I have also witnessed the sad reality that sometimes no matter what you do the human body can’t fight against the damaging effects of cancer, etc.   Yet, I know that I know that I know…you MUST change what you feed your mind and body if you will ever have a chance to find freedom from dis-ease.    You can read through hundreds of posts under my health tab above to begin getting the full scope of all that I have shared, believe in, and do to keep our family as healthy as possible.

I have coached people through many different styles of cleansing:  master cleanse, juice fasting, eating strictly raw foods, wheat grass juicing, carrot juicing, fruit juicing, vegan diet, colon hydrotherapy, and the use of infrared saunas.   I personally have experienced all of them.   So I teach and speak from tons of research, along with person experience.   Which means if diet alone could truly create optimal health, then I would not have suffered complete adrenal shut down four months ago, have my thyroid stop working properly, lose an excessive amount of weight, and feel exhausted simply from driving our children to and from school.  It was many factors (stress, lack of sleep, enough exercise, menopause, etc.) that pushed my body over the edge.  But it was a definite wake-up call that I needed to once again take the best care of me and my family to help us regain optimal health.  It is a constant journey – not a one month choice or diet. 

I’m excited that today, my body is gaining strength back, my adrenals are healing, my thyroid is almost 100% normal again – all because of making the effort to nutritionally cleanse my body.   I will share in the coming days the schedule I follow and suggest others with auto-immune challenges try before going full force with the products I use.   I agree 100% that food should be our medicine and that is why I eat paleo to ensure my body is getting the complete nutrition it needs each day.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s get down to a healthier you!

Last September, I wrote a post asking if you were ready to raise your hand to becoming a healthier you.  


Many read it, few answered that call.   Which leads me to beginning a new 30 day challenge where I will detail what I and thousands of others have said yes to do together…nutritionally cleanse our bodies. 

Right now you are already thinking of a million reasons why you will not, can not, and should not keep reading.   

But I’m going to ask you to push through that because this cleanse does NOT involve you starving yourself, drinking only water all day long, or needing to stay close to your bathroom.   It involves feeding the body highly nutritious foods while detoxing every cell in your body.  I’ll get to that in a bit.   But for now, please keep reading. 


Let’s begin with this question, “raise your hand if you've ever been on a diet!?”


Hands down now. 


Who is tired of dieting?






Yes, me included.  I’m tired of trying to figure out how to get optimal nutrition into my family every single day without having a hard time keeping the best ingredients in the house.   I want to know that our family is getting all of the nutrients we need each day, while removing toxins that we take in each day simply by being alive in the world around us.  (Breathing, drinking, and eating we expose ourselves to toxins – then add in the skincare products you use, the water you shower in, the bed you are sleeping on, the list of toxins is endless.)

Another reason we are all so toxic is our thoughts.   How we act and react to our daily lives. 

We all know that stress is bad for us.   But do we truly understand the damage it does to our bodies day in and day out?

Next up is our lack of sleep.  Come on be honest, most of you are not getting the daily recommended 7-8 hours needed to help our bodies work optimally each day.

Chronic stress, lack of sleep, and a poor diet leads to our bodies being taken over by inflammation (in 2004 this was on the cover of Time Magazine)…

You can look up the article to read it entirely, however, this graphic sums it up perfectly - inflammation in the body is the root cause of all illnesses…which is simply a toxic overload!

So what is inflammation?

Inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection with foreign substances, such as bacteria and viruses.  (Meaning the body is working hard to protect itself from an overly acidic environment)

However, in some diseases, like arthritis, the body's defense system -- the immune system -- triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign substances to fight off. In these diseases, called autoimmune diseases, the body's normally protective immune system causes damage to its own tissues. The body responds as if normal tissues are infected or somehow abnormal.  Inflammation can affect organs as part of an autoimmune disorder. The type of symptoms depend on which organs are affected.

Oh! if I could only get all of you to understand one thing this month it would be this…without your digestive system working optimally there is no way for you to feel well or fight against inflammation throughout the body. 



Every thought you have, every bite of food you take, and every sip of liquid you drink affects your digestive tract, i.e.. your over-all health.  Yes, everything has a direct affect on how you feel each day and if you are creating an environment for dis-ease to begin, halt, or take-over your body.   What you think is just as important as what you eat each day.   Thus, I began my 30 day challenges with positive thoughts and tips on how to improve how we think and react each day to life.


Anyone who has heard me speak about health or read my book knows that I wish I could give each of you a mirror to take a look deep inside of your body so that you would be able to see the reality of what I shared above.   When I saw this graphic I about jumped up and down, because it is a perfect illustration of my point.  You are what you eat! 


Two excellent examples of how we are filled with toxic chemicals by the food choices we make…billions are served fast food every single year!  That fact scares me for all generations!

Are you convinced yet that we are all toxic and need to cleanse our bodies while feeding it nutrient dense foods to compensate?

Let me give you a few more examples…

I know there is a “bad” word on this next graphic, but it is TRUTH!   Oh yeah – add in SUGAR FREE!

Why is cleansing of utmost importance in addition to your health and fitness goals? 

God created our bodies to cleanse, detoxify and get rid of the junk. All cleansing processes within our body are enzymatic processes.  These processes are absolutely dependent upon daily intake of minerals, trace minerals and amino acids?  If you are deficient in minerals, trace minerals and amino acids, your enzymatic processes slow or stop functioning properly. 

Mineral deficiency is at an all time high due to traditional farming practices and the use of pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals. These chemicals affect the microbial activity within soil hence affecting mineral uptake into the plant, fruit and vegetable.

We live in a world where the traditional diet is missing many key nutrients to support these God-given processes. Add to this environmental toxicity, a polluted world more than ever before in the history of man.  We don't live in the Garden of Eden anymore.

No matter what or who we are, everyone needs to cleanse. Umbilical cord blood study revealed 287 different chemicals and environmental toxins and toxicants.

"Of the 287 chemicals we detected in umbilical cord blood, we know that 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests.

If an unborn baby, that hasn't even taken its first breath, is exposed to toxicity within the womb, then what have we been exposed to in our lifetime thus far?

A few years ago, JAMA published that all adults should be taking a multi-vitamin daily to ensure that we're getting what we need nutritionally. If you're going to supplement, why not supplement with the best?

Do we need assistance?  Yes. 



Even if you don't have pounds to lose, you absolutely have toxins that need to go.   I know this to be true, I have been the same weight for most of my life.  I didn’t cleanse at any point and time to lose weight.  I did each of them to help my body rid itself of years of abuse that I imparted on it – through poor eating, sleeping, drinking and thinking habits.  

Here are just a few things you can look forward to when your body is cleansed from the toxins…increased energy, a balanced mind, clarity in thinking, a calmer body and mind, quality sleep, clear skin and so much more.  


You are going to have to make the hard choices like I have and change things in order to receive the benefits this kind of lifestyle rewards.   I’m not going to promote a specific diet, but a way of life!  Which looks like this…
